Volunteer & Help Volunteers donate thousands of hours of service each year, and are an important part of fulfilling the Presbyterian Night Shelter's mission. Without volunteers, our staff simply couldn't provide the services and programs our clients need. We require all volunteers to complete and return a volunteer application, code of conduct and background check before their service begins. Additionally, volunteers must send in a $15 application fee (to offset processing fees PNS incurs). Once your packet has been received by PNS, and you've passed the background check, the volunteer coordinator will contact you to schedule your time of service. (Please note that the background check may take up to two weeks to complete.) Click here to download the three forms. Volunteer check-list: ____ Application ____ Background check application ____ Signed Code of Conduct ____ $15 check written to PNS Priority will be placed on scheduling volunteers who will commit to at least six months of consistent service. The volunteers who work regular shifts (bi-weekly, weekly or bi-monthly) make a huge impact on the lives of the homeless and provide PNS operations with a much needed and reliable resource. PNS does not provide volunteer opportunities for children under the age of 12. Children 12 and older are welcome to volunteer, with appropriate guardian supervision, by serving meals or preparing sandwiches in the Main Shelter.
