For immediate release-Wednesday, June 18, 2008 Contact: Lyndsay Hoover, PR & Development Director, 817-632-7406 or 817-992-5881 Presbyterian Night Shelter adopts new mission and strategic plan Mission statement better reflects services offered at Fort Worth's largest homeless shelter Fort Worth, Texas - The Presbyterian Night Shelter adopted a new mission statement and strategic plan on Monday June 16, by a unanimous vote of the organization's Board of Directors. The new mission, 'Presbyterian Night Shelter provides a place of trust, respect and caring for homeless people, helping them regain their quality of life,' better reflects the services offers to the more than 700 homeless people by the 24-year-old organization. "Our new mission statement defines our direction as an organization," Carol Klocek, PNS Executive Director, said. "It encourages each of us to go the extra mile in making a difference in the lives of the homeless men, women and children we serve." Although named Presbyterian 'Night' Shelter, the facility is actually a 5-acre campus with four buildings, each offering a continuum of care and specialized services for the homeless throughout the day and evening. The buildings include an emergency shelter, a women's and children's shelter, a transitional-living complex for homeless Veterans, and a small shelter for severely mentally ill homeless. "Fort Worth has reached a critical point with the homeless population," continued Klocek. "With the City Council's newly adopted 10 Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness, PNS' new mission positions us not only to be the largest provider of homeless services, but also the most effective and successful provider." Since it was founded nearly 25 years ago, PNS has provided more than 3 million nights of stay and served more than 5 million meals. PNS also provides counseling and resources enabling clients to reenter mainstream society. The organizations vision is to END homelessness one individual at a time.
