Patriot House PNS operates one of the most successful veterans' transitional housing programs in the United States, working in partnership with the Veterans Administration (VA) to: secure and retain employment for homeless veteran clients; move them into permanent housing; and eliminate or minimize barriers to continued self-sufficiency. Thirty-six veteran facilities are available in dormitory style settings within the Main Shelter, and 32 other spaces are available in the recently opened Patriot House. The VA recognized the need to serve more homeless veterans and provided a grant for partial funding of the Patriot House. The Patriot House is an extensive renovation of an existing building, located a block north of the Main Shelter, and nearly doubled the number of homeless veterans the Presbyterian Night Shelter serves. The Patriot House is a semi-private, transitional housing program for homeless veterans, which will prepare veterans for permanent, independent housing within 24 months. Clients who live in the 5,200-square-foot Patriot House function in a more independent manner. They prepare their own meals, and have separate recreation, and as well as access to showers, laundry services and a computer lab. Please click here for a list of needs for the Patriot House. | ||||||
