Our Campus
The Presbyterian Night Shelter was founded in 1984, after a group of local Presbyterian ministers determined there was a
tremendous need for a free shelter. Forming a nonprofit organization, the ministers opened the Shelter in the former James
E. Guinn School on E. Rosedale on December 10, 1984.
Within three years of opening, the Shelter expanded to its current 43,000-square-foot facility on
Cypress Street. Safe
Haven opened in 1999, and the Lowdon-Schutts Building opened a year later. Veterans moved into
the Patriot House in the spring of 2008.
