  Holiday Help

To volunteer during the holidays, please complete a volunteer application, code of conduct and a criminal background check. Please write "HOLIDAY" and the date you prefer to work on the "Days Available" Line of the application. Holiday dinner will be served on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Year's Day. Volunteer opportunities are limited, so sign up today!

Additionally, a $15 application fee is respectfully requested to offset processing fees for new volunteers. Please allow two to four weeks for the criminal background to be processed. Once the paperwork has been received and processed, the volunteer coordinator will contact you for service.

If you have questions about volunteering over the holidays, please contact volunteer coordinator Heather White at 817-632-7415 or at hwhite@pns-tc.org

Please note that there is limited space available to serve during the holidays. If you are not scheduled to serve on the days you have requested, you can help the homeless by doing the following:
  • Making a monetary donation
  • Participating in the "Adopt-a-Client" program
  • Hosting a toiletry drive
  • Donating bus passes
  • Donating items on the Shelter's urgent needs list
Priority will be placed on scheduling volunteers who will commit to at least six months of consistent service. PNS does not provide volunteer opportunities for children under the age of 12. Children 12 and older are welcome to volunteer, with appropriate guardian supervision.

"Adopt-a-Client" Home for the holidays

Everybody wants to be home for the holidays - including our clients. Help us make that happen by participating in PNS' "Adopt-a-Client" program. Through PNS' housing program, our homeless clients are placed into unfurnished apartments. Volunteers help set up the apartment and provide furniture, toiletries and groceries, which help make the client's transition into mainstream society easier and more comfortable.

By "adopting" one of our clients you (and your small group of family or friends) can help set up a client's apartment with the following:
  • Sheets, pillows and pillow cases
  • Furniture including chairs, table, couch
  • Alarm clock
  • Toiletries items such as shampoo, soap and toilet paper
  • Towels and washcloths
  • Cleaning supplies including brooms, mops and cleaning sprays
  • Laundry detergent
  • Microwave
  • Toaster
  • TV
  • Kitchen item such as paper towels, rags, hot pads, measuring cups, etc. (PNS provides clients with plates, cups, utensils and a small set of cookware.)
If you are interested in adopting a homeless client, please contact Heather White at 817-632-7415.
